STATE TEAM COACH DUTIES

  • Must be a qualified and registered coach. Preferred level is BWF Level 1 but a Foundation Coaching qualification may be considered. It is a requirement of Badminton Australia that all coaches attending the National Championships in 2026 have this minimum qualification.
  • A Working with Children check is required (all registered coaches should have a current card)
  • Must participate in the team selection process. This includes attending any trials and tournaments leading into the announcement of the team.
  • Once the team has been selected, a minimum of 8 to 10 training sessions must be planned and implemented. A schedule should be provided to players, Manager and to the Badminton WA Board.
  • Must ensure players enter into Badminton WA tournaments leading up to the Championships and pair team members in doubles and mixed doubles events in these tournaments.
  • Must attend tournaments and provide coaching advice to team members.
  • Must rank players and report rankings to BA upon request.
  • Needs to work closely with, and support, the team manager both prior to and during the Championships.
  • Must Coach all players whilst at the event both in the Teams and Individual event.
  • Selects teams to participate in event matches in a fair way to achieve best results .
  • Will assist with driving team vehicles at the event, if required.
  • Must produce a final report within two weeks of the Championships.
