U19 State Team Nominations – 2026

Important Information


All players nominating for the State Team must be registered members of Badminton WA.

Players should enter the Kingsway Tournament being held over the weekend of 28 and 29 March 2026 and the State Junior Championships being held over the weekend of 18 and 19 April.

Age Eligibility: Players must be above the age of 14 as of January 1, 2026, in accordance with Badminton Australia’s eligibility requirements.

Event Details

  • Event: Australia National Team Championship (CP Maddern Trophy – Team Event) & Australian National Individual Championships (Individual Event)
  • Venue: Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC)
  • Dates: 5 July – 11 July 2026
  • Team Composition: Minimum of three (3) boys and three (3) girls, up to a maximum of five (5) boys and five (5) girls.
  • Support Staff: The team will be supported by a Coach and Team Manager.
  • Badminton WA Support for the Team

    Badminton WA will provide the following support:

  • Team Entry Fee: $690 (paid by Badminton WA)
  • Coach Training Fee: $1,000 for training sessions prior to departure
  • Honorarium: $600 each for the Coach and Manager
  • Subsidies:
  • Airfare Subsidy: $800 each for the Coach and Manager
  • Accommodation Subsidy: $350 each for the Coach and Manager
  • Selection Trials:
  • Badminton WA will cover court hire and shuttles for the trials.
  • Selectors will be appointed by Badminton WA.
  • Team Uniforms: If sponsorship is unavailable, players must cover uniform costs.
  • Grant Support: Assistance with local council sporting grants if required.
  • Nomination & Selection Process

  • Nomination Commitment: By submitting the Nomination Form and paying the nomination fee, players commit to accepting their position if selected. Withdrawals may result in a financial penalty.
  • Eligibility to Participate in Trials:
  • Players must be registered members of Badminton WA.
  • A fully completed Nomination Form and nomination fee must be submitted before the first trial session.
  • Nomination Fee: $150. $100 will be refunded to players NOT selected
  • Payment Process:

  • The $150 Nomination Fee must be paid online via the provided portal.
  • Nomination Deadline: 29 March 2026
  • Payment Reference: Use “U15 Team - [Player’s Name]” to track payments.
  • Training & Trials

  • Attendance: Attendance at all trials and training sessions is compulsory, regardless of time or venue.
  • Team Announcement: Early May 2026
  • Training Schedule:
  • Team Training: Dates, times, and venue to be confirmed after Coach appointment.
  • Payment Schedule & Estimated Costs

    A detailed payment schedule will be provided by the Team Manager. The initial payment of $550 will be due at the first training session after the team announcement, followed by further payments as determined by the Manager.

    Estimated Costs per Player:

  • Airfare: ~$1,000 (subject to booking)
  • Accommodation (9 nights): ~$600
  • Transport (Bus Hire & Fuel): ~$300
  • Food Allowance: ~$360
  • Travel Insurance: ~$35
  • Entry Fees for Individual Championships: Estimated at ~$120
  • State Team Uniform: Cost TBA
  • Spending Money: As per player’s discretion
  • Total Estimated Cost: ~$2,300 (excluding fundraising/sponsorship contributions)

    Fundraising & Sponsorships

  • The above estimated costs do not include potential fundraising or sponsorships.
  • The Team Manager will determine fundraising activities.
  • Player Participation in Fundraising is Mandatory when requested by the Manager.
  • Player Agreement

  • Once selected, each player must sign the Player Agreement.
  • Signing the agreement confirms that the player and their parent/guardian have read and agree to all information provided.
